It’s a little tough trying to get characterization into only a couple of panels, but hopefully this one, with much more text than those previous, helps get some points across. I’m learning that I have to leave lots of empty space when drawing so I have enough room for text when I’m lettering. But even with some extra room, I still had trouble squeezing it all in.
It’s all a learning process. I did correct something I’d done poorly on the previous page: All the ink strokes on that one looked like they were the same. With this one I consciously made more variation. Along with the Brian Miller’s book “Hi-Fi Color for Comics,” which I just got yesterday from Amazon (who knows when I’ll have time to read and practice what it says?), I really need to pick up something on inking, which I know “diddley poo” about, to invoke the great quotemeister, Jim Mora. Usually I just ink over the pencil art, then rely on the coloring to give me the depth and shading I need. Again, it’s all a learning process.
